Skateland skaters compete at
In January 2004, 11 members of the Skateland Figure Skating Club participated in a one-day Dance Meet when the temp outside was 2 below zero. 2 members--John Kane and Amy Claus had registered, but due to a recent illnesses, could not compete. Coaches George and Mary Pyche and Jr. Coaches, Alecia Schneider and Amanda Bati, along with some other Skateland club members, friends and families attended to support our team of skaters.

We had two skaters who skated their first contests, Terry Brunelle and Soso Whaley. Cheyenne Fuller skated her first dance contest, having participated in November in figures at Good Times.Josephine Epps and Herb Bayrd skated for the first time as a new dance team, both having previously participated in dance contests with other partners.
Amanda Bati skated advanced events with difficult dances and did a fantastic job!

Here is the list of participants and some comments.
- Bati, Amanda judged a meet for the first time, skated 2B Solo Dance, Sophomore Solo Dance and Junior Solo Dance. She showed more strength than at any time in the past.
- Baumert, Deanna skated 1B Solo Dance and Beginner Solo Dance. Deanna skated stronger than previously, kept an excellent pattern, and executed the steps with good precision.
- Bayrd Herb and Josephine Epps skated three Team Dance events as a new team. They have been able to make many adjustments in a short period of time and show great potential for this year's regional championships. They skated 1C Team Dance, winning the Silver Medal; 2B Team Dance, winning the Gold Medal; and Esquire Dance, winning the Silver Medal.
- Brunelle, Terry skated her first meet. She experienced unexpected timing problems but was able to maintain the dance steps with good execution. She skated Adult Beginner Dance, winning the Bronze Medal, and also skated Esquire Solo Dance.
- Fuller, Cheyenne skated her first dance contest, skating Beginner Solo Dance.
- Mercier, Amber skated 1A Solo Dance with greatly improved posture and grace along with better technical footwork and won the Bronze Medal.
- Pascoe, Allyson skated 1A Solo Dance and Beginner Solo Dance. She did an amazing job of staying in time with the music and skated with better speed and posture along with big improvements in her free leg positions.
- Potter, Molly skated Beginner Solo Dance after not being able to skate as often as she would like during the fall season but still was able to capture the Gold Medal.
- Schneider, Alecia skated 1D Solo Dance and won the Silver Medal; and Adult Beginner Dance and won the Gold Medal. She was able to maintain her strength and pattern size even with her recent problems with shin splints.
- Whaley, Soso skated her first meet, participating in Adult Beginner Solo Dance and winning the Bronze Medal. She was able to learn and remember the steps to two dances in a short period of time. Soso had ballet and other dance training as a child and has good balance and is able to quickly learn a dance routine.
