Coaching Staff

Skateland is a member of USA Roller Sports , and USA/RS (USA Roller Skating) , and we have skating clubs that specialize in most divisions of the sport: figure, dance, and free style. As members of the USA/RSA, we offer RSA achievement tests.

Skating instructors can belong to the S.R.S.T.A. (Society of Roller Skating Teachers' Association), and/or be USA/RS certified.

George and Mary Pyche, Certified Advanced Coaches, belong to both of these professional associations and are certified at the advanced coaching level and hold every achievement test judging commission in American and International Dancing, Figures and Free Style and hold their "B" Competative commissions. They are Hall of Fame members in the Northeast Region USA/RS. George and Mary hold the Gold Medal Test in American Dance. George's competative successes include Senior American Dance and Senior Men's Figures. He also competed in Pairs, Fours, and Men's Singles. He officiated, coached and skated in Puck Hockey and Ball Hockey competitions at the US Nationals and Internationally. Mary's skating experiences include Women's Singles, Pairs, Fours, Dance and Figures, along with Speed and Hockey. Mary is the head coach--organizing all the classes, clubs, shows, fundraising events, etc.

Cynthia Gates, Certified Advanced, belongs to both of these professional associations and is certified at the advanced coaching level and hold every achievement test judging commission in American and International Dancing, Figures and Free Style and holds her "B" Competative commission. She holds the Gold Medal Test in American Dance. Cynthia is a long time skating coach who has taught for many years in Michigan. She came from New England and has been involved with judging for many years from working at the national office to judging regional and other meets all over the country. Her late husband, Don, was one of the countries' utmost authorities in figure skating, and Cynthia's favorite discipline is figure skating but she teaches all phases of the sport.

Alecia Schneider, Junior Coach, qualified for the national championships in 2004 and was a finalist in 1D solo dance at nationals and is working on her dance tests. She has been assisting with the Club and is teaching private lessons and raising her family. She is an invaluable behind-the-scenes person at our skating shows and competative meets. Alecia teaches the Super Skater classes and is teaching private lessons.

Private or semi-private lessons are available. Arrange an appointment for an interview by calling Mary at 978-346-4340. Mary will analize your purpose for taking lessons and assign the appropriate coach to call you to talk about your goals.
