Thanksgiving Meet 2005 Pictures
Over the Thanksgiving weekend, the Skateland Figure Skating Club participated in a contest where skaters from all over New England skated at The Carousel Skating Center in Fairhaven, Mass. We had 8 entries who won 15 medals.

The list of entries:

Deanna Baumert won a gold in F/S C girls figures), a gold (in F/S C Solo Dance), a silver (in F/S B Solo Dance).

Fred Bergeron won a gold in Veteran A Mens Figures.

Brittany DesRoche won a gold in Primary A Solo Dance and a bronze in Primary A figures.

Amber Mercier won a silver in Juv B Girls figures, a bronze in Beginner Figures and a bronze in Juvenile A Solo Dance.

Terri Goodridge won a bronze (3rd) in Beginner Solo Dance and a bronze (4th) in Novice B Solo Dance and made the finals in Esquire B solo dance.

Nancy Gauthier, Veteran's Solo Dance, silver medal?

Georgiana Levesque won a bronze (3rd) in Primary A Solo Dance.

Soso Whaley made the finals in Esquire B solo dance.

Good Sportsmanship was admirably displayed by Brittany DesRoche who had entered the Primary division under the impression that she was in the correct age group. Sadly, it was discovered that she is now Juvenile. This was very disturbing for all of us and was discovered after she had skated the figure contest. She graciously volunteered to return the medal so those below her placement could move up. Since she was entered into the dance contest and was ready to skate, and it was an unofficial contest, it was determined that she could skate for the experience but that no placement would be awarded. She placed first but did not receive the medal. This was a very brave thing for this young contestant to do--a big congratulations to Brittany.

It was exciting to see Terri and Soso make finals in Esquire B Solo Dance against lots of veteran skaters. They both did an amazing job.

I believe that this was Amber's first contest skating figures.

Thanks to Brenda Levesque and Pam Bertheim we have lots of pictures from their cameras. Anybody else got any?
